NUREMBERG, GERMANY

I have fully done my research on Germany and all of Europe for that matter. I have been looking up things for the past year or so. Figuring out where i want to go, what i want to see, things i want to do and preparing my bucket list for it all. I have looked at smaller places to go to around the area that we live in and we decided to do those small trips first and then save up for the bigger ones.
For our very first weekend here we knew there would be a beer fest in Nuremberg. We took a taxi with 2 other couples from our hotel to the train station in Freihung. We had a very nice taxi driver who got out and helped us buy our tickets at the train station, since of course everything is in German, thankfully they also have an english button we could push so we could read what the machine said. We figured it out and bought a group ticket for all of us to head to Nuremberg. The hardest part for us was figuring out how to open the doors to get on and off the train. I think we got it figured out now though.
The trip to Nuremberg via train was not very long and we got to see everything out the windows so that was nice. When we got to Nuremberg it was a good sized train station almost like a union station back in the states. We thankfully had one of the couples with us who had been here before and kind of guided us. We walked to go find this beer fest. We first came upon this beautiful Church. The Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady).

After finding this beautiful church we walked around and ended up at the castle where we walked all up hill to get to but it was totally worth it with the wonderful view we got from up there. We talked to lots of germans on the way up and some americans too, who were just as lost as we were, trying to find this moat. We finally found some stairs that led us down to the beer fest. It was full of people beer stands of course and bands.
We got a table and we started our first german experience. We drank beer at different tents. We made friends with alot of germans and even had a few join us at our tables. We took shots with 2 very nice ladies ,well a few shots with them actually. This is where we were introduced to the hazelnut schapps which seems to be a very popular shot here. Its wasnt too bad tasting but oh man did it kick our butts later. Needless to say we had a wonderful time in Nuremberg at our very first fest. Now we will have to go back again to just walk around and take time to actually enjoy the rest of it.
They have a ton of restaurants and shopping there. I of course would love to see more of the town and take some pictures of the castle.
