Parkstein is built on an inactive volcano. Its a cute little town with great views. On the very top of the hill is the castle ruin, and a church. In the middle of the town there is a Museum that will tell you all about the town, the castle and the volcano. It also has this really cool volcano show that has smoke and shaking as if a real volcano was going off. It was probably my most favorite part of the museum.
There is a trail that you can follow up to the castle ruins and church. There is parking on the other side and you can take a stair pathway up as well. The walk was easy going up with the pathway. We walked back down the stair side and going down was not that bad but i can imagine going up would be a little harder especially if you are taking children with you. I would recommend walking up the regular pathway with just a few stairs at the very top. Once you get to the top you will get to see the amazing view of the surrounding city/towns. This is a place everyone should make a visit too. This was i do believe our 2nd place we got out to. .
