Burg Pottenstein a castle from the 11 century (1060) by Botho of Corinthia, was originally built to secure the area between Upper Main and Pegnitz to the southeast in the possession of the Babenberg Margrave of Schweinfur.
The most famous inhabitant was the Saint Elizabeth, hungarian princess and countess of Thuringia.
There is a museum you can go to inside. It has 3 fully furnished showrooms.
There is a small trail that goes from the castle up a small hill with beautiful views of the city and the castle itself. It was absolutely beautiful during the fall.
